OUR STORY

Welcome to the Great Plains of Colorado, home to our ranching family of 50 plus years. Ranching has been a part of our heritage as generations before us passed on a love of cattle and ranching. We endeavor to care for the animals we raise and to sustain the prairie grasslands as new generations join us.

Colorado Prime Beef LLC was created to bridge generations of our family together to works towards a common goal of sustainable agriculture on our family farm. Our farm dates back to the early 1930s and Grandpa Julius, a Belgian immigrant who settled on the Eastern Plains of Colorado with hopes of prospering in his new land.

Since that beginning, 4 generations have called this farm their home, each working with the land and resources to continue food production from farm to fork for the benefit of the consumer.

Currently, our family endeavors to keep the production of quality beef available to you, the customer. It is our wish to sustain the family heritage and preserve the open grasslands of Colorado for generations forward.

OUR PRACTICES

Our land is native soil and grass, and our lifeblood is the gift of rain that falls from the sky. The native grasses that our cattle graze were here in the time of the buffalo, and these grasses provide powerful nutrients to our beef.

With minimal amounts of rain in our arid grassland of Northeastern Colorado, we must conserve and manage resources to prevent overgrazing. This is achieved through rotational grazing, moving the cattle to new areas of grazing to allow the regeneration of grasses.

Our beef is finished with flaked or cracked corn purchased locally and hay is grown on our farm. They are born on the farm and finished on the same farm until processed locally at a USDA inspected facility. From our family farm to your fork—not just a catchphrase but the way it happens with Colorado Prime Beef.
